To help foster creativity among Waterloo Region's youths during this current crisis, and to raise money for the Region of Waterloo Foodbank, I’m running a SHORT STORY CONTEST, aimed at kids 16 and under. Great prizes as well as exciting recognition of your literary achievements!
There are 2 categories:

CONTEST RULES AND CONDITIONS

Stories must be no longer than 750 words. We’re strict about this!

Limit of one entry per person. Entrants must live in the Kitchener-Waterloo region

Entry fee: if you're able, a $3 or more donation to the Foodbank of Waterloo Region https://www.thefoodbank.ca/donate/ Please let me know how much you donated so we can tally how much we’ve raised for this great cause

Deadline: Thursday, April 2nd, 5pm

Stories to be submitted in MS Word document or PDF to: jenniferfarquharshortstory@gmail.com

Please use email subject heading: SHORT STORY CONTEST

Entrants must include their name, email address, phone number, address, and age.

The judges’ panel will be made up of local teachers and book lovers.

Winners’ names and stories will be published (with winners’ permission) on social media, as well as on my author website, and possibly elsewhere. If winners would like, their stories can be broadcast aloud online by themselves or a reader of their choice!
PRIZES
11 and under category: 1st place: $50; 2nd place: $30; 3rd place: $20
12-16 year-olds category: 1st place: $75; 2nd place $40; 3rd place: $25
Winners will be announced on May 1st
